Marc Jaffrey OBE

Me

I provide development support to leaders and businesses seeking to improve their leadership and communication practices, direct projects that seek to deliver significant social impact and speak on change, creativity and education.

I am driven by a belief in the power of people’s creativity to change the world — from promoting basic human rights through to fostering courageous, imaginative businesses.

I love the pursuit of clarity and I hate waste – in people and their potential and in businesses and their purpose.

These interests have driven me through 25 years as a creative leader of high-impact campaigns and change programmes in the creative industries, government, business, education, social causes and the arts. I have been commended for my campaign leadership in the House of Lords and by Sir Ken Robinson.

I was appointed OBE in 2010 for services to music and education.

Projects this year include a landmark ‘peer leadership’ programme funded by Arts Council England, a brand development and cultural leadership programme for a leading global NGO based in Holland and a major programme seeking to centrally place the role of creativity and culture in the regeneration of a major UK city.  I am also currently writing a book about the role of generosity in highly effect businesses and change programmes – more on that in my blog soon.

I led the Music Manifesto, the most successful arts campaign in UK history, attracting £332m and driving large-scale improvements in the education system that continue to command cross-party support.

I have been a senior independent adviser to the Secretaries of State at the DfE and the DCMS. I developed a portfolio of award-winning content and services as a BBC Commissioner, including the groundbreaking OneMusic for Radio 1.

I co-founded leading communication training agency Think Again Media in 2008, where clients included ITV, The Guardian, The Federation of Music Services, The Sage Gateshead and the BBC.

My values have been forged at the heart of a well-known, creative family who combine artistic flair and social conscience with dynamic commercial acumen – I thrill in crossing cultural and social boundaries and connecting people and their experiences . I have worked with CEOs and frontline staff; with equality activists and advertising agencies; with global NGOs and local government; with head teachers and young people.

I have learnt much about motivating and sustaining people to drive improvements through skills honed by doing it – through trial, error, adaptation and success.

I deploy high-level skills in change leadership; directing complex projects; networking, influencing and advocacy; strategy development; communications; marketing; campaigns and coaching.

I am a graduate of the BBC Leadership Programme at Ashridge Business School and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). I have chaired and sat on the boards of a range of charities and enterprises and I am currently a board member of A New Direction (AND) – promoting arts and cultural engagement with young people in London.
